22 medical graduates complete Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's prestigious residency and internship program

(Abu Dhabi, UAE) -- Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, part of the M42 network, proudly hosted a graduation ceremony for its 2024 cohort of medical residents and interns, celebrating the achievements of 22 graduates from its established Residency and Internship Programs. Among the graduates, 20 are UAE nationals, aligning with the national objective of nurturing local medical talent in healthcare and reinforcing the hospital’s ongoing commitment to advancing healthcare in the country through its medical education programs.

At the ceremony, the graduates were reminded of the impact of their talent and skills to the local and regional medical community, where expertise in advanced and complex care is in high demand. They were encouraged to continue their specialization in top-tier institutions globally or to join leading hospitals within the UAE, contributing to the enhancement of world-class patient care in the region.

Dr. Sawsan Abdel-Razig, Chief Academic Officer at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, commented on the institution’s dedication to medical education, stating: “Medical education is a fundamental part of our mission at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. By training the next generation of healthcare professionals, we are building a skilled workforce capable of meeting the growing healthcare needs of the UAE. Our residency program equips young physicians with the knowledge and experience needed to deliver world-class care, bringing advanced healthcare closer to home. We are proud to contribute to the nation’s healthcare landscape and help shape its future.”

Maitha Almazrouei, an Emergency Medicine resident graduate, said: “I joined this program back in 2020, and the most rewarding part of my residency has been the opportunity to make a significant difference in patients' lives. Working at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, I've seen firsthand the impact of our care on patients and their families, which has reinforced my passion for my profession and commitment to patient-centered care. I have learned a lot throughout my residency, and I look forward to continuing to enhance patient care in the UAE.”

This year, 43 new trainees joined the residency and fellowship programs, achieving an impressive Emiratization rate of 84%, highlighting Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's commitment to developing the local medical community. Since the inception of the program, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi has graduated 68 medical interns and 16 residents, playing an important role in developing the next generation of healthcare professionals and positively contributing to the workforce in the region.
