Gaslini
International Training Programs
Gaslini
International is the operating platform of
initiatives fostered under the auspices of the Gerolamo Gaslini
Foundation and organized by the Giannina Gaslini Children's
Hospital and Research Center and International School of Pediatric
Sciences of Genoa, Italy, that seeks to contribute to upgrading the
quality of pediatric health care practice in countries of the
Mediterranean, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
Within
this framework, the Gaslini International Training Program
represents a package of targeted training actions in a range of general
pediatric disciplines in which the Giannina Gaslini Children's Hospital
has long been recognized as a world leader.
In
its pilot phase, Gaslini International is pleased to announce the
launch of a series of high-level 10-day residential postgraduate training
courses addressed to pediatricians and health care practitioners in
Mediterranean, Near Middle East and Central and Eastern European
countries. The overriding aim of these actions is to provide participants
from these countries with the skills and approaches needed to guarantee
quality child health care.
Moreover,
Gaslini International is pleased to announce that, in this pilot
phase, grants are being
offered to cover in full all tuition and local rooming & boarding
expenses of selected participants (highly motivated and
justified requests for the refund of travel costs will be reviewed on a
case-by-case basis.)
Rather
than leaving a short intervention project to its own fate, Gaslini
International will endeavor to build on the relationships that are
ultimately established with participants, consolidating at the same time
already existing collaborative bonds, in order to achieve its overarching
goal to effectively and efficiently network pediatric health care centers
throughout the Mediterranean basin and nations set to become full Members
of the European Union.
Through the stipulation of full-fledged formal agreements and the
establishment of strategic partnerships foreseeing short- and long-term
staff exchanges, joint research and clinical projects, including
telemedicine applications, and when necessary the transfer of especially
difficult cases for which appropriate care is not available in the country
of origin, Gaslini International will ultimately constitute a
viable working platform to ensure adequate continuity, quality control and
follow-up of actions aimed at providing standardized pediatric health care
throughout the regions addressed by the program.
