Memorial Health Group
Memorial Hospital started operations in February 2000 and received
the TSE (Turkish Standards Institute) quality certificate (ISO 9001) in
December 2000. Memorial became the first hospital in Turkey and
the 21st in the world to receive the JCI (Joint
Commission International) Accreditation in March 2002 and renewed
the accreditation in April 2005. Memorial Health Group (MHG) with more
than 1200 employees provides high quality healthcare services in
international standards to its local and international patients with its
55.000 square meter closed area, 203 bed capacity(48 beds in ICU) and 8
operating rooms. In 2006, Memorial had 120.000 outpatients, 14.000
inpatients and 6.000 surgeries. Memorial Health Group currently operates
2 outpatient clinics, one in the European side and the other one in the
Asian side of Istanbul. Construction of a new hospital facility
(Memorial Atasehir Hospital) in the Asian side of Istanbul, which is

The hospital also provides many other
services to meet the medical needs of international patients.
Memorial Cardiovascular, Cardiology, Organ Transplantation and IVF
Centers are among the leading centers in their areas in the region that
are lead by very strong and very-well known doctors. Memorial Hospital
holds about 10% share in the Istanbul bypass market (870 surgeries in
2006) and 10% in the IVF market (2600 cycles in 2006) in Turkey.
Memorial's IVF Center generated the first IVF pregnancy via
microinjection in Turkey. It is also the first Center in Turkey, which
has an in-house Genetics Lab to carry out genetic inspections and
resolve genetic issues prior to fertilization. Memorial Genetics Lab
developed the first beating heart cell in Turkey.
Memorial also received license from Turkish Ministry of Health as the
first private hospital to carry out organ transplantation (kidney and
liver) and related immunogenetic and immunology laboratory services in
March 2004. It is the first and only private hospital to carry out
kidney and liver transplantation. Prof. Dr. Munci Kalayoglu, leaving his
position as the Director of Liver Transplantation Program at University
of Wisconsin, joined Memorial in 2006 as the head of Organ
Transplantation and General Surgery Department.
In terms of hospital technology, Memorial Health Group works with top of
the line and globally recognized medical and diagnostic equipment
companies like Siemens, GE and Philips. Memorial Health Group recently
has undergone an investment to totally renew its radiology department to
have the latest technology available. Memorial has the 64-slice CT since
January 2007 along with all the other new radiology equipment including
the new 1,5 Tesla MRI, Ultrasonography, Digital Fluoroscopy, Angiography,
Digital Mammography, Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy(ESWL) and the
latest version of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
A significant number of check-up patients visit Memorial for different
check-up programs every day. Memorial offers a very exhaustive health
screening for its check-up patients. The program offers women and men
check-ups for under and over 45, executive check-ups for both genders,
cardiology, gynecology and neurology check-up packages.
